About Great Wilderness Challenge
Four distances cater to different appetites for Highland trail running at the Great Wilderness Challenge on 15 August 2026. Taking place in the north west Highlands near Poolewe, the event features 7 miles, 10 km, 13 miles and 25 miles routes across remote estate tracks and rugged countryside. The 10 km starts and finishes at Poolewe Hall, whilst longer routes explore Highland trails around Poolewe, Aultbea and Dundonnell.
Organised as a charity fundraiser, the event provides marshals, first aid and refreshments throughout, with post-race catering at Event HQ. All finishers receive a medal.
