About Grewelthorpe Multiterrain Race

Taking place on 11 October 2026, the Grewelthorpe Multiterrain Race is a 13 km trail event based in the North Yorkshire village of Grewelthorpe, near Masham. The single-lap course winds through a varied landscape around the village and neighbouring Swinton Estate, taking in the Himalayan Garden, Nutwith Woods and an old drovers road towards Lofthouse Moor. Runners navigate constantly changing surfaces including back roads, fields, woodland, moorland and tracks, alongside several fords, with steep climbs and quick descents punctuating the route.

The terrain is demanding, with the course climbing above Grewelthorpe before descending towards the finish outside the village. Those who reach the higher sections are rewarded with extensive views across the surrounding North Yorkshire countryside. Registration and prize giving happen at Grewelthorpe Village Hall, where finishers can return for refreshments including homemade soup, tea and coffee. Organised as a community event in support of St James's and Methodist Church, the race relies on local volunteers to run race day.
