About Grim Reaper Running Festival
The Grim Reaper Running Festival takes place across 22-23 May at Grimsthorpe Castle near Bourne in South Kesteven, Lincolnshire. Organised by Bog Dog Running, the event offers four solo distances—10 miles, 40 miles, 70 miles and 100 miles—as well as team relay options. All races use the same 10-mile loop, meaning participants completing longer distances lap the course multiple times.
The trail circuit winds through grass paths, ancient woodland and limestone tracks across the estate, past the castle lake and along a disused Victorian railway line, with roughly 550 feet of elevation gain per lap. A single aid station sits at mile 5, and the course is fully marked. Trail shoes are recommended for the undulating terrain. Participants should bring their own cup or purchase one on site, as the event is cupless.
Medics are on site throughout the event, and a running shop operates at the venue. Pacers are permitted from mile 50 for longer solo races. Dogs may enter the 10-mile race only and must be on a lead. Mandatory kit including lighting and waterproof items is required for ultra distances during night hours, and minimum age limits apply to each distance.
