About Grizedale Forest Trail
Grizedale Forest Trail takes runners through the forested terrain of the Lake District, starting and finishing at Grizedale Visitor Centre near Hawkshead on 7 February 2027. The route follows forest tracks and varied terrain with undulating climbs, offering views toward Coniston and the surrounding landscape. Competitors can choose between a 13.1-mile half marathon or a 26.2-mile full marathon distance.
Participants must be at least 16 years old and are required to carry a compulsory kit list. The 26.2-mile route has mandatory cut-off points due to limited daylight, with runners needing to reach Food Stop 2 at 13 miles within 3.5 hours, and a final course cut-off of 7 hours 30 minutes from the start. The half marathon has the same overall time limit.
