About Hadrians Wall Half Marathon
Organised as part of a two-day event that includes a walking option, the Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 11 October 2026 across a 13.5-mile trail route in Northumberland. Starting at Housesteads Roman Fort on Hadrian's Wall near Hexham, the course follows the Hadrian's Wall Trail Path for approximately 6 miles before descending to Newbrough and passing through woodland to join the Tyne Riverside Trail Path. The final 5 miles into Hexham are on flat terrain, finishing at Tyne Green Country Park.
Participants are set off in staggered groups of 75–100 based on estimated finishing time, with chip timing provided throughout. A shuttle bus is available to reach the start at Housesteads, or runners can arrange their own drop-off. Bag drop facilities operate at registration, with bags transported to the finish. Dogs are welcome on the course if kept on a lead, with a maximum of one per runner. All finishers receive an event t-shirt, medal and snack.
