About Halifax Urban Trail
Taking place on Easter Monday, the Halifax Urban Trail is a 10 km trail race that winds through the heart of Halifax and its surrounding landscape. Starting at Shibden Park, the route climbs to Beacon Hill before descending into the town centre, where runners pass through several significant buildings and public spaces including Halifax Town Hall, Halifax Minster, the Piece Hall, Borough Market and Dean Clough Mills. The course also features a subterranean passage beneath Shibden Hall, with several locations along the route normally closed to the public.
The event returns for its second running on 29 March 2027, following a successful inaugural race in 2026 that attracted nearly five hundred participants. Organised to raise funds for Overgate, the local Calderdale hospice, the race is licensed by England Athletics and registered as a charity.
