About Hartsop Hop
On 21 August 2027, Hartsop Hop takes runners on a challenging mountain run through the fells near Patterdale in Westmorland and Furness. The 20 km trail route begins at the sheep pens above Hartsop and incorporates significant climbing with five checkpoints marking the course. Early on, runners make a route choice to reach Rest Dodd before heading towards High Raise, Kidsty Howes and Haweswater, then continuing via Nan Bield Pass, Lingmell End and Gray Crag on the final approach.
The terrain is technical fell with steep descents, outcrops requiring careful navigation, and ground that ranges from stony paths to runnable sections. With over 1300 metres of ascent across the course, this is a demanding event suited to experienced mountain runners. Entrants must be at least 18 years old.
