About Hel n Back
Hel n Back brings a trail race to Helensburgh on 12 September 2026, starting and finishing at Hermitage Academy. The route climbs through four distinct sections, with the final ascent through trees presenting the steepest challenge before runners turn downhill around the 8 km mark. The course is mostly land rover track and well-made trails, with short sections of tarmac and road at the start and finish, plus a paved stretch of less than 1 km midway through.
The final 4 km descend on a steady gradient back to the school. Hermitage Academy offers a large free car park, with street parking also available nearby, and Craigendoran train station is about five minutes' walk away. Marshals support runners throughout, with volunteers at the finish where fun prizes are awarded. The race is limited to 200 places.
