About Heptonstall Fell Race
A 25 kilometre fell race across the moorland, valleys and woodland of the upper Calder Valley, Heptonstall challenges runners to navigate steep-sided terrain on 21 March 2027. The course traverses upland pasture, pathless moorland, grassy slopes, bog and dense woodland, starting from the ancient cobbled main street in Heptonstall village. This is a Category BL event where FRA rules apply and full kit is mandatory, including waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food.
Runners must be 18 or older. Registration takes place at the adjacent church before the start. The event is organised as a not-for-profit community race, with proceeds supporting local groups including the Scouts, Guides, Church, Mountain Rescue and CROWs. Parking is available in a field at postcode HX7 7EU.
