About Hilly Helmet Challenge
The Hilly Helmet Challenge returns to Westbury for its tenth edition on 5 August 2026. This evening trail run covers 4 miles through local terrain around the Leighton Recreation Centre, with a twist: all participants must wear a helmet while running. The event celebrates creativity with prizes awarded for the best helmet design, alongside awards for the first male and female finishers.
The narrow trail course can become slippery in wet conditions, so sturdy footwear is advisable. Due to the terrain, the event is not suitable for wheelchair users, and dogs are not permitted for safety reasons. All finishers receive a pottery memento. The Hilly Helmet Challenge supports Brain Tumour Support, with 100% of entry fees going directly to the charity. Facilities at the recreation centre are available to participants, and refreshments have been provided in previous years.
