About HOWL Trail
HOWL Trail offers three distances across the final sections of the Heart of Wales Line trail, ending at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre near Craven Arms. On 29 May 2027, runners can choose between 16, 26 or 50 miles of trail running, each with its own registration point and checkpoint structure. The 50 mile route includes two manned checkpoints, the 26 mile has one, and the 16 mile route runs unsupported between Bucknell and the finish.
Registration locations are spread across the start area, with baggage transport arranged to the finish for all distances. Train services connect Craven Arms with the starting points, and parking is available at the Discovery Centre. Age requirements vary by distance: the 16 mile is open to runners aged 17 and above, while both longer routes require participants to be 18 or over.
