About Hughenden Valley Half Marathon
Taking place in early December, the Hughenden Valley Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile trail race set around the National Trust's Hughenden Manor near Aylesbury. The route winds through Naphill, Bradenham and Hughenden, following forest paths and woodland trails with a mix of rural terrain. Runners will encounter undulating ground with roughly 450 metres of ascent across the route, though the organiser rates it as easier than some other Chilterns races.
The course is marked with orange arrows and ribbons, with marshals positioned along the way. Aid stations are spaced through the race, offering water, soft drinks, gels and snacks. The event starts and finishes on the grounds of Hughenden Manor, where there is car parking, toilet facilities and a cafe. Rough and uneven ground underfoot makes trail running shoes a sensible choice for this December outing.
