About Ironwood Challenge
A six-mile trail race through ancient woodland and fields above Long Ashton in North Somerset, the Ironwood Challenge takes runners across mixed terrain that can be notably muddy underfoot. Off-road shoes are recommended for the route, which is fully marked and marshalled throughout. Taking place on 28 February 2027, this inaugural event will feature chip timing and has an ARC permit application in progress.
Facilities on the day include limited free parking alongside local street parking options, a baggage store, first aid cover, and shower and toilet facilities. All participants receive free cake and tea or coffee. Awards go to the top three finishers overall in both men's and women's categories, plus winners in standard age categories from Senior through V80, with one prize per person.
