About Isaac's Tea Trail Ultra
Isaac's Tea Trail Ultra takes runners on a 37-mile loop through the North Pennines, starting and finishing at Allendale Post Office in Hexham, Northumberland on 7 August 2027. The route passes through Ninebanks, Alston and Nenthead, staying within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a UNESCO Global Geopark. Runners will tackle approximately 4800 feet of ascent over farmland tracks, field boundaries, sheep trods, minor roads and stoney undulating trails.
Participants have 12 hours to complete the course, which is largely self-navigating with the help of permanent finger posts, trail markers, a map and GPX file. Marshals are positioned at key points along the route. Checkpoints are well stocked with cold drinks, snacks, fruit and vegan options, while hot drinks are available at race headquarters. Relay teams of three are welcome to enter. The event includes free photography and an event tracker for safety, with each entry supporting trail upkeep in the area. Runners receive a branded event tea towel and wildflower seeds as part of their entry package.
