About John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon
The John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra takes place on 7 November 2026 in North Berwick, East Lothian. This overnight endurance event gives participants six hours to complete as many laps as possible of a 5 km off-road trail loop. Runners can enter as soloists or join relay teams of up to three runners, with each participant taking turns on the course.
The trail is well-marked and each lap passes a tented base where runners can access support, food and leave kit between efforts. The event runs through the night, so participants need to bring a headtorch and appropriate trail kit. A marked atmosphere at the base includes music and lighting, along with other features throughout the night to sustain the experience across the six-hour window.
