About Jurassic Coast Ultra
Running along Dorset's rugged coastline, the Jurassic Coast Ultra takes participants on a 40 mile trail journey from Abbotsbury to Lulworth Cove following the South West Coast Path. The route is marked by the Acorn sign and emphasises self-navigation, with the sea typically to one side and land to the other as runners traverse wild, steep terrain that demands both concentration and physical stamina.
Taking place on 27 March 2027, the event features checkpoints approximately every 10 to 20 km offering food and water. A 13 hour cut off applies to the course, with a minimum pace of 5 km per hour required; participants missing checkpoint times will be retired. Mandatory kit is compulsory and includes a navigation device, waterproof clothing, warm layers, emergency food, torch with spare batteries, water, high visibility item, folding cup and charged mobile phone. Event headquarters is at the Masonic Lodge Portland in Portland, with transport provided to the start and from the finish.
