About Kintyre Way Ultra
Taking place on Saturday 8 May 2027, the Kintyre Way Ultra is a 35-mile trail running event across Argyll and Bute in Scotland. The route traverses sections of the Kintyre Way long distance path, running from Tayinloan to finish at Knap Guest House in Tarbert. The landscape takes in hill paths, forestry tracks, beaches and seaside rocks, bluebell woods and gorse fields, with views across the water to the islands of Arran, Islay, Jura and Gigha, and from the southern section towards Ailsa Craig and Northern Ireland.
Runners can compete solo over the full distance or join a relay team of three covering the two northern sections, or two over the southern section. The course is waymarked with pale blue posts and mile-marker signs, with additional support at key points. Drop-bag transfer to checkpoints, rucksack transfer to the finish and extra water stations feature in the logistics. Finish facilities include refreshments, massage and showers. GPS tracking is available where signal permits, with timing provided by KitST.
