About Lake District Running Festival | Grasmere Gallop 5km Trail Run
OMM Lite brings map-based orienteering to the Lake District Running Festival, taking place over 5 and 6 June 2027 in Grasmere. Competitors navigate trail terrain using a fresh Harveys 1:25000 map each day, visiting as many of 30 checkpoints as possible within set time limits and returning to event HQ. Long Course options run for 7 hours on Saturday and 5 hours on Sunday, while Short Course participants have 5 hours and 4 hours respectively. Runners can enter solo or in teams of two or three.
Checkpoints are marked with orienteering flags and control boxes where competitors register visits using timing tags. The event supplies SPORTident timing chips and live tracking throughout. Mandatory kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layers, hat and gloves, map, compass, whistle, first aid kit, emergency food and water carrying capability. A hot meal is provided after the event, along with event photographs and bespoke OMM Lite maps.
