About Lakeland Paws: Dogs @ Dodd Double Header
On 24 April 2027, Lakeland Paws returns to Dodd Wood for the opening race of its finale weekend, marking the fifth year of the series. Two distances are on offer: 5 km and 8 km, both following forest roads and trails through the woodland with views across Bassenthwaite Lake to the Northern Fells. Runners will encounter mostly wide paths, though some sections narrow and the final descent presents a steeper challenge.
The race runs in canicross format, with dogs optional and harnesses available to borrow. Where the trail widens sufficiently, runners may bring two dogs. Entrants must be aged 16 or over. The course is fully marked, chip-timed, and GPX files are provided for navigation. This event forms part of a double header weekend and sits within the broader Lakeland Paws season that includes races across Whinlatter Forest and Grizedale Forest.
