About Lakeland Trails Coniston
Coniston's fells provide the backdrop for this trail running event held around Coniston Water and through the Coppermines Valley. Participants can choose between 10 km and 16 km routes that follow well-marked footpaths and bridleways, with views across the water towards Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags. The terrain is mostly hard-packed trail with occasional muddy sections; the longer route includes one short technical section that many runners may prefer to walk.
Taking place on 5 June 2027, the event is based at Coniston Sports and Social Club with an event village featuring live music, food and drink from local traders, and retail support. Both distances have separate prizegivings across open and veteran categories. Chip timing is used, with results published live online. Runners should note that dogs are not permitted on the courses themselves.
