About Lakeland Trails Hawkshead
Lakeland Trails organises a trail running event at Hawkshead on 10 April 2027, with two distances to choose from: 10 km or 16 km. Both routes start and finish at Hawkshead Recreation Ground and follow marked circuits along footpaths and bridleways through rolling countryside, taking in views across to Windermere, the Coniston Hills and the Langdales. Every course includes the mile-long Coffin Trail, a notable climb through woodland from Belle Grange back towards Hawkshead.
The terrain is primarily trail with short tarmac sections, though some descents are steep and rocky. Water stations are positioned on course: one for the 10k and two for the 16k, with drinking water also available at the finish. An event village with local food traders and retail accompanies the racing, and a children's fun trail runs throughout the day.
