About Lakeland Trails Marathon
Lakeland Trails Marathon takes runners into the heart of the Lake District on 6 June 2027, based at Coniston Sports and Social Centre. The event offers trail racing at multiple distances around Coniston in Westmorland and Furness, with routes passing Tarn Hows, Beacon Tarn and the undulating terrain along Grisedale Forest's edge. The courses are mainly hard packed trails with occasional muddy sections, all well signed and marshalled, taking in panoramic views of Coniston Water and peaks including The Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.
On the day, the event village features food stalls, local traders, live music and race commentary. Water and feed stations are positioned along the routes, offering water, snacks and flat coke. Runners should bring their own reusable cup. Dogs are not permitted on the courses, and in-ear headphones are banned, though bone-conduction devices are allowed. Some gates along the routes must be closed behind runners.
