Lakeland Trails Ullswater offers trail runners a choice between 10 km and 14 km distances on 1 November 2026, starting from Beckside Car Park in Glenridding on the eastern shore of Ullswater. The 10 km route is open to runners aged 16 and over, while the 14 km is for those aged 18 and over, with competitors typically boarding Ullswater Steamers to run back toward Glenridding after disembarking at Howtown. The courses feature rocky and rooty sections with short tarmac stretches, and are waymarked and marshalled throughout.

Runners must bring their own water and a cup, as there are no aid stations on course. A compulsory kit list applies: hat or Buff, gloves, waterproof jacket, and long leggings or overtrousers, with kit checked before boarding the steamers. Dogs and in-ear headphones are not permitted, though bone conduction headphones are allowed. If the steamers cannot sail, contingency courses start from Jenkin's Field, with the alternate 14 km route including a climb to Boredale Hause. Results are published live online, with the finish under the event gantry in Jenkin's Field.
