About Lakeland Trails Ultra
The Lakeland Trails Ultra takes place in Ambleside on Saturday 10 July 2027, offering four trail distances across the Lake District fells. Runners can choose the 14 km, 23 km, 55 km or 100 km course, each following mainly hard-packed trails with muddy sections, mountain passes and waymarked routes. All courses are marshalled and chip-timed, while the longer distances have additional GPS tracking support.
The 55 km and 100 km routes involve substantial climbing and multiple mountain passes, with the full ultra adding further passes and elevation gain. Feed and water stations support competitors on these longer distances. The 100 km course is self-navigated until Patterdale, where it joins the 55 km route. Both ultra distances require compulsory kit including waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, headtorch, first aid kit, emergency supplies and other safety items, with a formal kit check before the start. Safety cut-off times apply to both courses.
The event runs from a start and finish arena in Rothay Park with an event village featuring food, trade stands and entertainment. The 55 km and 100 km courses carry ITRA race points at 3 and 4 points respectively.
