About Lakes 3000 Ultra
Lakes 3000 is a 54-mile mountain ultra organised as a high-altitude challenge across the Lake District's most imposing peaks. Starting and finishing at The Pencil Factory in Keswick on 26 June 2027, the route links Scafell, Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and Skiddaw, covering approximately 87 kilometres with more than 15,000 feet of ascent. The unmarked trail follows established Public Rights of Way across valleys, technical ridgelines and remote high fell terrain, demanding strong mountain awareness and solid navigation skills.
Runners have 24 hours to complete the challenge. The course is supported by four medical aid stations and three high fell safety tents, with live GPS tracking throughout. Participants receive a detailed GPX file, waterproof map and route notes beforehand, and can use a drop bag facility at base. Mandatory mountain kit must be carried at all times. Finishers are met with hot food and drink.
