About LDWA - Essex Walker
The Essex Walker takes place on 25 October 2026 and forms part of the Essex and Herts Triple Challenge, a series that also includes the Blackwater Marathon and Herts Hobble. Based at Priory Church of St Laurence in Brentwood, the event offers two trail-based distances through the Essex countryside.
Participants can choose between an 18 mile route or a longer 26 mile figure-of-eight loop, both following footpaths and bridleways via Fryerning, Wyatts Green and Mountnessing. The long route includes three checkpoints along the way, while the short route has one at around 9 miles. Route descriptions and GPX files are provided at least a week in advance. Refreshments feature throughout, with hot and cold drinks at the start, snacks and sandwiches at checkpoints, and a meal at the finish. All finishers receive a certificate.
