About Leeds & Liverpool Canal 130 Mile Race (LLCR
The Leeds & Liverpool Canal 130 Mile Race follows the canal towpath from Liverpool to Leeds over 130 miles of trail running, taking place on 29 August 2026. Organised by Canalrace C.I.C. under UK Athletics rules with permission from the Canal & River Trust, the race is limited to 100 starters and operates under a 40-hour time limit with checkpoint cut-offs along the route.
The route passes notable features including the Burnley Embankment and Bingley Five Rise staircase. Supported competitors must maintain a crew with vehicle support throughout; Unsupported runners have access to designated feed points at regular intervals. Solo foot-based buddy runners are permitted from the 70.6-mile mark. Competitors must be at least 20 years old and carry mandatory safety items including a mobile phone, whistle, survival blanket and maps.
