About Llyn y Fan
Llyn y Fan is a fell race covering 5.5 miles with approximately 714 metres of ascent, starting from the carpark near Llywel in Powys on 14 November 2026. The route crosses remote moorland with sections of off-path climbing and descending, mostly unmarked and offering some route choice. Directional canes mark only the initial gully and final descent ridge from Fan Foel. Competitors should expect stream crossings and be prepared to find safe crossing points; streams may be in spate depending on conditions.
This is a challenging event suited to runners with good navigational skills and mountain judgement. The terrain is unforgiving, escape routes are limited, and weather can significantly increase difficulty. Participants must be over 16, with those under 18 requiring prior parental agreement.
