About Maverick Cotswolds Trail

On 22 May 2027, the Maverick Cotswolds Trail takes runners into the northern Cotswolds for a 50 km off-road adventure. Based at Sudeley Castle near Winchcombe, the route follows sections of the Cotswold Way and Winchcombe Way through bridleways, ancient woodland and open ridge lines, weaving past villages and farmland within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Participants can expect steep climbs requiring power-hiking, fast descents and long runnable sections.

Fuel and hydration stations are positioned along the course offering sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks. The event is dog friendly, though spaces are limited and dogs must be registered at entry. A fully marked course, timing with online results, event photography, free parking and a bag drop area are available. Mandatory kit varies by distance; the 50 km requires a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, minimum 1 litre of water, foil blanket, whistle, elastic bandage, cap or buff and a reusable cup.
