About MBNA Chester Marathon
The MBNA Chester Marathon takes runners on a 26.2-mile trail route through Chester and into the surrounding Cheshire and North Wales countryside on 11 October 2026. Starting from Chester Racecourse, the course passes the city's iconic landmarks including the Roman Walls, Cathedral, Medieval Rows and Eastgate Clock before heading out into villages and rural scenery, returning alongside the River Dee for a finish on Castle Drive in the heart of the city.
The race hosts the England Athletics Age Group Masters Marathon Championships and operates a 6-hour cut-off time. Pace runners are available at target times from 3:00 hours up to 5:00 hours. Runners receive a technical T-shirt, bespoke medal and goody bag at the finish, with prizes for the top three men and women in each age group. The event includes on-course hydration and nutrition, medical support, and a tracking website for supporters to follow progress.
