About Mendip Marauder
In August 2027, the Mendip Marauder takes runners across the Somerset Mendips for either 30 or 50 miles of trail running. Both distances follow established Mendip Way routes through woodland, rolling countryside and limestone gorges, with the longer race extending to a coastal finish at Uphill Sands Beach.
The 30-mile route traces the West Mendip Way with 4,161 feet of elevation gain, while the 50-mile course follows the East Mendip Way before joining the 30-mile route, totalling 5,516 feet of climbing. Runners encounter rocky technical descents, long climbs including Wavering Down, and pass notable landmarks such as Ebbor Gorge, Cheddar Gorge, Wells Cathedral and Black Rock Nature Reserve. The event starts and finishes at Frome Pet & Aquatic Centre, with cut-off times of 8 hours for the 30-miler and 14 hours for the 50-miler. Aid stations are positioned along both routes to provide food and drink support, though this is a cupless race so runners must carry their own bottles and cups.
