About Mercia Handicap
The Mercia Handicap is a fell race taking place on 25 October 2026 at Stretton Hall, Church Stretton, Shropshire. The 9 km course covers approximately 500 m of ascent and is run under FRA rules and safety requirements.
Entry works on a handicap basis: runners contact the organiser with an estimated finishing time and are assigned staggered start times accordingly. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including waterproof clothing, hat, gloves, emergency food, map, compass and whistle, which will be checked before the race. Race numbers must be worn visibly on the chest. All runners are required to report to the finish and surrender their race number, even if retiring from the race.
Parking is available off-road at Plush Hill and on nearby roadsides. There are no toilet facilities at the event site.
