About Moel Famau 12 & 24hr Challenge
Moel Famau, the prominent peak in Denbighshire's Clwydian Hills, hosts this 12 and 24-hour trail challenge on 14-15 August 2027. Competitors tackle 5.8km loops with 400 metres of climbing per lap, returning to a dibbing point to record each completion. The terrain is technical and demanding, but there are no cut-off times or minimum lap requirements—runners, walkers and mixed-ability participants all work at their own pace.
The event operates on a camp-on-site format with support facilities including tent pitches, vehicle parking, feed stations, showers and covered rest areas. Solo runners and relay teams both compete on the same course, with pace runners welcome. Whether aiming for distance or simply testing themselves on the hill, participants move through the challenge independently, stopping to rest as needed.
