About Monsal Trail Half Marathon Weekend
The Monsal Trail October Half Marathon & 10k Weekend takes place across two days in the Derbyshire Dales, with races starting and finishing at Bakewell Station on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2026. Runners can enter one or both days, tackling a 10 km trail route that follows the historic Monsal Trail, a former railway line that winds through four tunnels and across the iconic Monsal viaduct. The multi-terrain, undulating course is traffic-free and takes in the surrounding countryside of the Dales.
Race headquarters are based at Bakewell Station, with additional facilities at Hassop Station about a mile along the route. Detailed route maps and GPX files are available for those preparing to run. Leading runners receive trophies and prizes, with all finishers receiving a medal and free photographs.
