About Monsal Trail Half Marathon
The Monsal Trail April Half Marathon & 10K Weekend takes runners across a section of the former Midland Railway line that now forms a traffic-free trail through the Peak District. Both distances follow the same undulating multi-terrain route, passing through four tunnels and crossing the Monsal viaduct on their way around Bakewell in Derbyshire.
Held on 10 and 11 April 2027, the event offers participants a choice between the half marathon and 10K distances. Starting and finishing at the old Bakewell station site, runners navigate a scenic course that showcases the landscape surrounding this restored railway route. Detailed route maps including GPX files are provided for both races.
