About Moonriver Night Race
A night-time fell race across the Dovedale valley, the Moonriver runs 9.5 km with 345 m of ascent. The course takes in open fields, a rocky riverside trail, a woodland climb and undulating footpaths, all navigated under headtorch light. The race is based at The Old Dog pub in Thorpe, with parking available at the pub and nearby car parks.
Governed by Fell Runners Association rules, full FRA kit is mandatory including a headtorch (with a spare recommended), and competitors must carry a mobile phone. GPS navigation, poles and dogs are not permitted. The event is limited to 250 runners aged 18 and over. Prizes are awarded in individual and team categories, including veteran and age-group classifications.
