About Moray Coastal Trail Races
Held annually along Scotland's northeast coast, the Moray Coastal Trail Races take place on 8 May 2027 across two ultramarathon distances. The 50 mile event runs the full Moray Coastal Trail from Findhorn to the Cullen Viaduct, whilst the 50 km distance starts at Lossiemouth and covers the southern section of the same route. Both races follow coastal paths linking beaches, cliffs and former fishing villages between these three towns.
The route traverses Burghead Bay, clifftop sections near Lossiemouth and Spey Bay, passing landmarks including Bow Fiddle Rock and local dinosaur footprints. Each race operates under a cutoff time: 16 hours for the 50 mile and 10 hours for the 50 km. Both include fully stocked aid stations and drop bag provision throughout. Participants must be aged 18 or over, with entry limited to 150 runners per distance.
