About Mourne Way Marathon
The Mourne Mountains form the backdrop for this trail running event across the Newcastle, Newry, Mourne and Down area. Taking place on 26 June 2027, the Mourne Way Marathon Events run the established Mourne Way route in the opposite direction to previous years, which changes how climbs, descents and views are experienced along the trail.
The half marathon (13.1 miles) begins at Newcastle and travels to Fofanny Car Park high in the mountains before following the Mourne Way back to the start. The marathon (26.2 miles) follows the same initial route but retraces it back towards Newcastle. Both distances take runners across mountain trails, forest tracks and open countryside. The event is based at Donard Car Park, Bryansford Place, Newcastle.
