About MTC BEITHIR
MTC Beithir is a 39-mile trail ultra run taking place on 1 June 2028, starting from Forces Manor in Kingussie and finishing at Travelodge Inverness. This inaugural edition forms Day 6 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end route across Scotland, with a total ascent of 2,256 ft and descent of 2,978 ft.
The route is broken into four legs with three checkpoints. Runners will pass through Boat of Garten at 9.5 miles, Inverness at 19.1 miles cumulative, and National Cycle Route 7 at 28.3 miles before the final push to the finish. Cut-off times are enforced at each checkpoint, and a minimum average pace of 4.0 mph is required throughout. Finishers receive a BEITHIR medal, with male and female champions earning trophies.
Entries are limited to a maximum of 40 runners. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid kit, emergency food, and a waterproof map case. Organisers provide tracking devices with SOS functionality.
