About MTC Black Anise
Trail running offers something different from road racing, and the MTC Black Anise brings that experience to Lancashire's landscape. This 38 km ultra takes place on 12 July 2029, starting at Premier Inn Lancaster and finishing at Premier Inn Wigan North. The route follows established MTC paths with 1,578 ft of ascent across the day, designed as the third stage of a longer end-to-end challenge but open to participants taking on this section alone.
The event maintains a small, intimate field of up to 40 runners and enforces a minimum pace of 4.0 miles per hour, with checkpoint cut-offs in place throughout. Competitors must be at least 20 years old and come equipped with mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch, maps, compass or GPS device, and basic emergency provisions. Finishers receive a medal, with category trophies awarded to male and female champions.
