About MTC Y Draig Goch
Ultra runners tackling longer distances will find a demanding challenge in this 35 km trail event, which forms day six of the Mount to Coast CYMRUN six day end to end challenge. The point-to-point route follows National Cycle Route 8 from Merthyr Tydfil through Cardiff, finishing at Marco's Cafe on Barry Island. Entries are limited to 20 race competitors, with an additional 20 places available for CYMRUN challengers, and runners must be at least 20 years old.
Entrants should prepare for variable weather and bring mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Maps and GPX files are provided to all participants. Competitors who fall below a minimum average speed of 4 mph may be withdrawn from the race, which operates a cup-free policy requiring runners to carry a reusable cup. Finishers receive a bespoke medal, with male and female champions awarded trophies.
