About NAV4 LiAD Recce - Caldbeck to Threlkeld
The NAV4 LiAD Recce is a guided exploration of the opening stage of the Lakes in A Day event, organised by NAV4. Taking place on 30 August 2026, this 12-mile trail run from Caldbeck to Threlkeld follows the first section of the full LiAD route and covers the terrain runners will encounter on the main event day, including lanes, remote fell paths, rocky ground and the descent of Hallsfell Ridge. The route crosses the River Caldew and tackles the ascent of Blencathra, with a total elevation gain and loss of 3600 feet.
The recce is designed to prepare participants for the full Lakes in A Day challenge, combining on-route guidance with advice on navigation, strategy, gear, nutrition and training. Numbers are kept to a maximum of 15 people, and transport from the finish point back to the start is included. Participants meet at Fitzpark Dental Practice in Keswick.
