About Newton Road Races 3K & 10K
Along the Clyde path in South Lanarkshire, Newton Road Races take place on 24 October 2026, organised by Newton Road Runners in memory of club member Cat Gaskell. Both races start from Westburn Hall in Cambuslang and follow out and back routes on well-maintained tarmac. The courses are mostly flat with a couple of small hills for variety, and runners navigate without road crossings or traffic.
Two distances cater to different age groups. The junior 3 km race begins at 11:15 for runners aged 15 and under (children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult), followed by the 10 km at 12:00 for those aged over 15. The 10 km is officially measured and chip timed. All finishers receive a goodie bag, with prizes for the first three male and female finishers in each race. The event holds a Scottish Athletics licence.
