About Night of the Undead - Zombie Run
On 24 October 2026, Wigan hosts its first zombie run across Haigh Woodland Park. The Night of the Undead is a 5 km mixed terrain event following marked trails through the park's open drives and wooded paths over approximately 2.5 laps.
Runners start from the drive in front of Haigh Hall and make their way into the woodland. Along the route, zombie actors attempt to remove the three flags attached to each participant's belt—these represent lives. Crossing the finish line with at least one flag intact counts as survival; those with no flags remaining are recorded as infected. Though positioned as a fun run rather than a competitive race, all participants are timed and results are published online. The event caters to runners, joggers and walkers alike.
