About Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon
Bridgend's miniature railway centre hosts this festive trail half marathon on 19 December 2026. The Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon covers 13.1 miles of mixed-terrain running, combining sections of the local Hateful Eight route with additional trail miles. Runners can expect a significant hill, technical downhill forestry sections, mud and water crossings, and a final flat muddy mile, with a road section offering views along the way. The course is fully marked throughout.
Mad Running Junkies organises the event for a maximum of 70 participants aged 17 and over. Those running in Christmas fancy dress are encouraged to enter the competition for best and most imaginative costume, provided their outfit remains runnable. The finish provides hot and cold refreshments including mince pies and Christmas cake, alongside a bespoke medal, Christmas crackers, medical support and volunteer assistance.
