About Norfolk Coastal Trail Marathon
The Norfolk Coastal Trail Marathon and Half Marathon follows the marked Norfolk Coast Path, a mainly off-road trail signposted with acorn symbols. The full marathon covers 26.2 miles from Holme-next-the-Sea to Morston Quay, while the half marathon is 13.1 miles, starting at Burnham Overy Staithe and finishing at the same point. Runners should note that the route is not officially measured and is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Both races take place on 19 September 2026 under UK Athletics rules and are licensed by the Trail Runners Association. Entry is capped at 200 for the marathon and 300 for the half marathon, with a minimum age of 18 on race day. The event features electronic gun timing at certain points, and marshals are stationed at main road crossings. Marathon runners face a cut-off time of 1:00 PM at Burnham Overy, while a 3:45 PM cut-off applies at Stiffkey for both distances. Checkpoints along the course provide water, squash, and snacks, though participants must bring their own reusable bottles. First aiders are on hand at the start, finish, and throughout the route.
