About Northern Traverse
The Northern Traverse is a five-day self-supported ultra race across northern England, following Wainwright's Coast to Coast route from St Bees on the west coast to Robin Hood's Bay on the east. Covering approximately 300 km with around 6,500 m of ascent, the event takes in mountains, valleys and moorland while crossing three National Parks.
Held from 3 to 7 April 2027, this trail-based challenge suits experienced ultra runners looking for a substantial multi-day test. The route's self-supported format means participants navigate a demanding landscape across some of England's most distinctive terrain. Competitors must be at least 18 years old.
