The Drop Winchester puts navigation at the heart of the running experience. Participants gather at The Handlebar Cafe in Winchester before being transported by bus to an undisclosed location, then released to find their own way back to the city. There are no marked routes, GPS support or directions—only the challenge of plotting a course across urban streets, riverside paths, trails and the surrounding countryside.
Runners can choose between 10 miles and 15 miles depending on the path they take, making decision-making and adaptability as important as endurance. The terrain mixes Hampshire's urban landscape with off-road sections and open country, creating a self-navigated route that varies with each participant's choices.
