About Ochil 2000s
The Ochil 2000s is a 33 km trail race in the Stirling area, starting from Glen Devon and finishing at Stirling University on 28 August 2027. This hill race covers substantial terrain with 1770 m of ascent across the Ochil Hills, taking in peaks including Innerdownie, Ben Cleuch, Ben Buck and Dumyat. Only sections of the route are marked; elsewhere, runners navigate using map and compass with the aid of orienteering-style controls positioned on higher peaks and other key locations.
Participants must carry mandatory kit including a map, whistle, compass, full waterproof cover, hat and gloves, with kit checked at registration. The route incorporates two cut-off controls at Kings Seat Hill and Ben Buck. A bus service operates between Stirling University and the Glen Sherrup start point. The event uses SI dibber technology at 13 controls and includes specific rules around crossing deer fences, which may only be crossed at marked points.
