About OTT Ultra
The OTT Ultra takes runners across technical trail terrain through the Brecon Beacons, covering 30 miles from Merthyr Tydfil on 7 November 2026. Starting at George town boys and girls club, the route heads north along the Taff Trail before climbing to Pen y Fan, South Wales' highest peak at 886 metres, then descends via Jacob's Ladder to the Roman Road. The second half follows forestry tracks past Dolygaer and Pontsticill Reservoir before returning along the Taff Fechan Nature Reserve back to the finish.
Five checkpoints are positioned throughout the route, with water and food available at four of them (at 6, 13, 19.5 and 26 miles, plus a check-in/check-out point at Pen y Fan summit). A cutoff of 14:00 at the 19.5-mile checkpoint means runners need to maintain roughly 19 minutes per mile pace. The event is cup-less, so participants should bring their own drinking vessel if they wish to use checkpoint drinks.
